this is shaping up to be one hell of an anniversary. Got to get up early and hang with dylan, and when I got the paper, I received some more good news. The Jackets acquired R.J. Umberger, in a trade with philly! Umberger, a former buckeye star, is a stud who can play center, or wing on the first line, and is a Ken Hitchcock man. He was a beast in the playoffs last season. The pick we traded to get RJ was essentially the pick we got for trading Adam Foote’s worthless ass. We also picked up the 3rd best offensive player in the draft. The buckeyes football team got a commitment from a florida receiver, who’s father is none other than Cris Carter. All I need now is for reds rookie Daryl Thompson to blow away the yankees in his first ever start. I’ll also accept seeing “disgruntled reds fan” getting beat up on t.v. as he makes his yankee stadium debut as well. Tune in to FSN Oh to see an idiot in an eric davis jersey. I also was looking on line to see what specific gift marks the 5th year wedding anniversary. Apparently the gift for the 5th year is wood…….enter joke here. What can I give my wife romantically, that is made of wood. If you said Ken Griffey Jr. Autographed bat, you read my mind.

I have returned from my 1300 mile round trip journey in one piece and less disgruntled, one of many local proud reds fans who made the trek out to root for the reds and boo correy patterson. You would not believe the round of boos from reds fans every time he came up, the worthless bastard managed to hit a home run though. Two things saved me from a severe beating, besides the fact that i can outrun most bronx residents even on one leg, nobody is going to take seriously a reds fan who is wearing an eric davis jersey. Second, everyone in new york will be your best friend by saying two words: Boston Sucks.

    Highlights from the game:
    1) Monument park- got my picture next to Babe Ruth and Lou Gehrig’s monuments
    2) Reds shut out yanks- well worth the trip
    3) I was on the jumbotron at yankee stadium and the #44 jersey was well in view. The ultimate jumbotron appearance.
    4) After the game, while waiting in a subway packed with mostly reds fans (most yankee fans left when they were down 6-0) I had a “Let’s go Reds” chant that lasted for well over a minute. Unfortunately i forgot i had a video camera on me to tape the moment.
    5) Hearing Bob Sheppard announce and seeing Babe Ruth’s daughter (not naked) were pretty cool. A small beer cost $7.50, and some crackhead lady at the concession stand didnt know how a credit card machine worked, causing me to miss most of the 4th inning. My first sight on the field at yankee stadium was seeing Griffey take BP and hitting an upper deck shot much like 10 years ago, glad to see he can still hit against soft-toss.
